Where The Problems Are And How They Are Solved
Each stage below is a place where on-site composting projects usually go wrong, and what TMK does about it.
Sorting Platform
Problem. Incoming food waste carries plastics, metals and oversized objects that damage equipment.
How we solve it. Waste is emptied onto a sorting platform where operators remove contamination before it reaches the line.
Oil And Water Separator
Problem. High moisture content slows composting and wastes heating energy.
How we solve it. The separator compresses oil and water out of the waste before it moves down the conveyor.
Shredder
Problem. Large particles compost slowly because microbes only work on exposed surface.
How we solve it. The shredder pulverises the waste, increasing surface area and raising daily composting capacity.
Squeezer
Problem. Residual water still limits how much the machine can absorb per day.
How we solve it. The squeezer presses the waste against a fine mesh screen to remove as much water as possible before loading.
Composting Machine
Problem. Central sites need throughput beyond a single machine rating.
How we solve it. The TMK-5000 is rated at 5000 kg a day, and with these four accessories the same machine has been set up to reach 8 tonnes a day.

How is the right machine size decided?
From measured daily kilograms and the peak day. TMK composters are designed to handle 20% excess material; beyond that the compost will not be fully cured and odour becomes likely.
What consumables does the process need?
Dry sawdust and bacterial enzyme culture. Dry garden waste can replace sawdust, although a larger quantity is needed.
How often does the microbe culture need replacing?
We recommend replenishing the microbes on an annual basis to keep the strength of the culture up.
Does the process need a water or drain connection?
No. TMK composters do not require a sewer hook-up because the steam generated during composting is extracted and absorbed by the deodorizers.
How long before the compost can be used?
The output can be used immediately, although a further curing period of two to four weeks is recommended before wider application.
