Classification Society Certificates for Marine Equipment

Which societies we can certify to

Our products can be issued with ABS, BV, CCS, DNV, GL, LR and RINA certificates. In practice BV and CCS are the two most commonly requested and the most widely accepted worldwide, which is why they are the default on most orders. Every product can be applied for the certificate you name.

What the certificate actually proves

A product certificate records that the item was surveyed and that the testing result was approved by the society. It is issued against a specific product on a specific order, which is why the society has to be named when the order is placed rather than after the equipment is built.

When you do not need one

If the equipment is not going into a classed vessel, or the item is not a class item, a certificate adds cost and lead time for nothing. Every piece of equipment is tested before it leaves our factory regardless, and we can show you the test video and the testing report, which is often all a commercial buyer needs.

Material certification is separate

Marine steel plate and angle carry their own route: the mill has to hold classification society factory type approval before the plate can go into a classed hull, the plate is inspected by the society, and a ship inspection certificate is issued. Inspection fees vary by society and are calculated by tonne.

Name the society early

The single most common delay on a certified order is the society being decided after production has started. Tell us the society with the enquiry. It costs nothing at that stage and it removes a survey scheduling problem later.
