What PPAP Covers, and Why It Takes Eight Weeks
A plain explanation of the production part approval run we do to ISO/TS 16949 or VDA, and what we need from you to start it.
What PPAP is for
PPAP is the evidence pack that says a production tool, on a production line, makes parts that match the drawing repeatably. It is not a sample — a sample proves the shape, PPAP proves the process.
The two standards we work to
We are experienced in PPAP according to ISO/TS 16949 or VDA, working with customers based in North America and Europe. Which standard applies is normally set by your own customer, not by us.
Why eight weeks
Timing is typically 8 weeks, and most of that is not paperwork: the production tool has to be finished, run, measured, corrected and run again, and the material testing has to be done on parts from that run rather than on prototypes.
What comes before it
The team feasibility study, and prototype parts — 4 weeks from a prototype tool, all tooling designed and made in house. Design changes belong in that window, not in the PPAP run.

A sport pad has a metal face; a rubber pad does not. That single difference drives tooling count, unit price and how the part is validated.

Service conditions, not price, should pick the compound. Here is how we narrow it down and what we test to prove the choice.

Still deciding?
Send the service conditions and the annual volume. Our designers will propose a compound and a construction rather than asking you to pick one.
