GM Sport Pads 4
The flanked version, where the rubber wraps the edge of the plate. It needs a second tool action, which is why we quote it separately from the flat-edged faces.

The face on this part
Brushed stainless face with round rubber studs and a moulded black flank. It sits in the GM Sport Pads group, and the photograph above is of the part itself rather than a rendering — what you see is the tread, the outline and the finish as they leave the tool.
Tooling, and who owns the timing
All tooling is designed and made in house, in the same buildings as the moulding lines in Shanghai and Beijing. That is why parts from a prototype tool take 4 weeks rather than the eight to ten a subcontracted tool would need.
Moving from sample to approved part
Prototype parts prove the shape. PPAP proves the process — that a production tool on a production line makes parts that match the drawing repeatably. We run PPAP to ISO/TS 16949 or VDA, typically over 8 weeks.
What we need to quote it
A drawing in SolidWorks, Pro-E or UG — a STEP export is fine — or the physical sample, which we will measure and model for your approval. Annual volume and the required PPAP standard complete the picture.

Background reading
Sport Pad or Rubber Pad? The Difference That Decides Your Tooling Cost
A sport pad has a metal face; a rubber pad does not. That single difference drives tooling count, unit price and how the part is validated.
Overmoulding vs Press Fit: Two Ways to Get Rubber Onto a Finisher Plate
Both produce a metal-faced pedal pad. They differ in tooling, in retention and in how easily the part can be pulled apart.
Brushed, Sand Blasted or Polished: Picking a Pedal Face Finish
The three finishes buyers actually ask for, what each one hides, and why a finish change is not a tooling change.
Questions buyers ask
Is the rubber overmoulded or pressed in?
We produce both. Overmoulding gives one inseparable part and suits small or pryable inserts; press fit lowers tooling and suits large inserts that their own geometry already retains. Which one applies is set on the drawing before the tool is cut.
How long before I see a real GM Sport Pads 4 sample?
Prototype parts in 4 weeks. That window is also when design changes are cheap — our designers will suggest improvements to the part while the tool can still absorb them.
What do you need from us to quote it?
Native SolidWorks, Pro-E or UG files, or STEP. Add the volume, the duty and the delivery country and we can quote tooling and parts together.
How is the material verified?
Beside the press rather than a week away. Hardness and density catch a mis-weighed batch, Mooney viscosity catches a compound that will not flow the same way tomorrow, and ozone and ageing catch what only shows up years later.
