A face-lit letter where both the return and the front face are metal, in aluminium or stainless with powder coated colour, and the LED is perforated through the face rather than shining through acrylic. The result is a row of light points in a solid metal letter.

A frontlit letter has to be readable at noon and at midnight, which means the acrylic colour, the LED density and the return depth all have to agree with each other. Shallow returns need tighter LED spacing. Saturated acrylic colours cut output. Faces over 400mm need a rim to stay flat.
