V and VQ Series Vane Pump Cartridge Kits
Matched cartridge kits for V and VQ series vane pumps covering 20V to 4535V and 20VQ to 4535VQ frames, supplied assembled with rotor cam ring vanes and plates.

Product Overview
A cartridge kit is the whole wearing group of a vane pump in one assembled part: rotor, cam ring, vanes, and the port and pressure plates that seal the pair. Changing it returns a worn pump to its original flow without touching the housing, the mounting or the coupling. Our kits cover the full V and VQ range in single and double frames and are assembled and matched as a set rather than picked from loose parts.

Key Benefits
- Restores original flow and cycle time at a fraction of the cost of a new pump
- Assembled and matched so all wearing faces run in together
- No change to mounting, coupling or pipework
- Fits inside a normal maintenance window rather than a shutdown
Application Scenarios
- Planned overhaul of press and moulding machine power units
- Emergency repair when a pump has lost flow overnight
- Distributor shelf stock for the frames common in the local market
- Rebuild programmes where several pumps are refreshed in rotation
Who It Is For
- Hydraulic repair shops
- Plant maintenance departments
- Distributors serving industrial customers
- Machine builders offering a service exchange programme
Problems It Solves
- The machine cycle has slowed and flow measurement shows the pump is the cause
- A new complete pump is not justified because the housing is sound
- Loose parts from different sources wear unevenly and fail early
- The original kit is quoted with a long lead time
Technical Features
- Rotor with ground vane slots so the vanes move freely under load
- Profile ground cam ring in bearing quality steel
- Vanes matched to the rotor slot width
- Port plate and pressure plate lapped flat
- Supplied assembled and wrapped so it goes in as one piece
Specifications
Performance figures depend on the exact variant, so we confirm them against your model code rather than publishing a number that may not apply to your pump.

Materials
| Cylinder blocks | Case hardening steel with a sintered bronze running face, bonded and machined after sintering |
|---|---|
| Pistons and shoes | Case hardening steel with a bronze shoe face, swaged and hydrostatically balanced |
| Valve plates | Bearing steel or bronze faced steel depending on the frame, lapped to a mirror finish |
| Drive shafts | Alloy steel, carburised and hardened on the spline and bearing seats, ground on centres |
| Vanes and rotors | High speed tool steel and case hardening steel, hardened and ground on all working faces |
| Cam rings | Bearing quality alloy steel, through hardened then profile ground |
| Seals | Nitrile as standard, fluorocarbon or polyurethane on request for hot or fire resistant fluid duty |
Manufacturing Process
- Turning and millingBlanks are turned and milled from certified bar and forging stock on CNC machines.
- Heat treatmentCarburising, quenching, tempering or nitriding to the route the original part uses.
- GrindingBores, spline seats and running faces are ground after heat treatment so distortion is removed.
- Lapping and superfinishingValve plates, shoe faces and block faces are lapped so the pair seals under pressure.
- InspectionDimensions, hardness and surface finish are recorded against the drawing on a sampling plan.
- Assembly and testComplete pumps are built, run in and tested for efficiency, leakage and noise before packing.
Quality Control
- Incoming material certificates are checked against the grade called for on the drawing.
- Hardness is measured after heat treatment on every batch and recorded on the batch card.
- Critical bores and running faces are gauged against the drawing tolerance, not against a sample part.
- Mating parts are matched as a set so the block, shoes and valve plate run in together.
- Rebuilt pumps are bench tested for volumetric efficiency, external leakage and sound level.
- Parts are cleaned, oiled and vacuum sealed so they arrive without surface rust.
Certifications and Documentation
Supplied on request with an order. We do not claim approvals we cannot evidence.
| Material certificate | Mill certificate for the steel grade used in the batch |
|---|---|
| Hardness report | Surface and core hardness readings after heat treatment |
| Dimensional report | Measured values for the critical features named on the drawing |
| Test bench report | Flow, efficiency, leakage and sound readings for a rebuilt pump |
| Packing list and photographs | Carton contents and photographs of the packed goods before shipment |
Customization Options
- Shaft and splineKeyed, straight or splined shaft ends built to your sample or drawing.
- Port and mountingFlange, thread and mounting pattern matched to the pump already on the machine.
- Seal materialNitrile, fluorocarbon or polyurethane for hot oil, fire resistant fluid or low temperature duty.
- Rotation and displacementLeft or right hand rotation and the displacement code your circuit was set up for.
- Marking and packingNeutral packing, your own carton artwork and your own part number laser marked on the part.
Comparison With Other Products
| Point | Cartridge Kit | Complete Pump | Loose Parts |
|---|---|---|---|
| Cost | Lowest for a sound housing | Highest | Low but risky |
| Fitting time | Short, cover off and cartridge in | Longer, pump off the machine | Long, parts must be matched on the bench |
| Result | Flow returned to original figure | Flow returned to original figure | Depends on how well the parts match |
| Choose when | Housing bore and cover face are not scored | Housing is scored or cracked | Only a single part has failed |
Use Guide
- Drain the pump and mark the cover position before opening.
- Inspect the housing bore and cover face. Scoring means the housing needs attention too.
- Fit the cartridge with the arrow following the drive rotation.
- Renew the shaft seal and cover seal at the same time.
- Flush the reservoir and change filters, then bleed the circuit at low pressure.
