A marine repair yard on the Canadian coast handling deck machinery on working vessels: winches, windlasses, cranes and hatch drives.
Project Challenge
A vessel came in with two deck winch drives losing holding power. The sailing date was fixed. Parts had to be identified correctly the first time because there would be no opportunity for a second delivery.

Our Solution
Model codes were photographed and sent before the units were opened. We confirmed the frames as bent axis units in the A2F family and quoted matched rotary groups along with piston ring sets and seal kits. A spare ring set was added so the vessel would carry a backup.
Manufacturing Process
Rotary groups were machined and matched as sets. Piston rings were ground and gap checked against the bore size group. Everything was oiled and vacuum sealed for marine storage.
Supply Chain Coordination
The consignment was shipped by air to the yard against the sailing date, with photographs of the packed goods sent before dispatch so the yard could confirm the contents in advance.
Quality Control
Dimensional and hardness reports were supplied with the shipment for the owner's records.
Final Result
Both winch drives were rebuilt and tested before the sailing date, and the vessel left with a spare ring set on board.
