SQP Series Single and Double Vane Pumps
SQP series vane pumps in SQP1 to SQP4 single frames and SQP21 to SQP43 double frames for compact industrial power units and machine tools.

Product Overview
The SQP frame is a compact low noise vane pump used on machine tools, small power units and moulding machines where the unit sits close to an operator. Single frames run from SQP1 to SQP4 and double frames from SQP21 through SQP43. We machine the cartridge, shaft, cover and body parts and can supply the complete pump built and tested.

Key Benefits
- Quiet running suits power units mounted near an operator station
- Compact envelope fits the tank top installations these machines use
- Double frames feed a clamp circuit and a feed circuit from one motor
- Cartridge and seal kits available separately for on site repair
Application Scenarios
- Machine tool clamping, indexing and tool change circuits
- Small tank top power units on production equipment
- Plastic moulding machines with separate clamp and injection circuits
- Laboratory and test equipment where noise matters
Who It Is For
- Machine tool service engineers
- Power unit builders assembling tank top units
- Distributors serving general engineering workshops
- Maintenance teams in plants with mixed equipment
Problems It Solves
- The power unit has become noisy and the noise level is now a workplace issue
- A compact frame is needed because there is no room for a larger pump
- Two circuits are needed but only one motor can be fitted
- The original pump is no longer supported in the local market
Technical Features
- Low noise cartridge geometry
- Hardened rotor and cam ring with ground vane slots
- Compact body suited to tank top mounting
- Double frames share a single drive shaft
- Cartridge and seal kits sold separately
Specifications
Performance figures depend on the exact variant, so we confirm them against your model code rather than publishing a number that may not apply to your pump.
| Pump type | Balanced vane pump, fixed displacement |
|---|---|
| Configuration | Single and double frames |
| Mounting | Flange mount, tank top or bell housing |
| Rotation | Left or right hand, stated in the model code |
| Shaft end | Keyed or splined to the original pattern |
| Cartridge | Replaceable matched cartridge kit |
| Performance data | Confirmed against the full model code on your pump before quotation |
Materials
| Cylinder blocks | Case hardening steel with a sintered bronze running face, bonded and machined after sintering |
|---|---|
| Pistons and shoes | Case hardening steel with a bronze shoe face, swaged and hydrostatically balanced |
| Valve plates | Bearing steel or bronze faced steel depending on the frame, lapped to a mirror finish |
| Drive shafts | Alloy steel, carburised and hardened on the spline and bearing seats, ground on centres |
| Vanes and rotors | High speed tool steel and case hardening steel, hardened and ground on all working faces |
| Cam rings | Bearing quality alloy steel, through hardened then profile ground |
| Seals | Nitrile as standard, fluorocarbon or polyurethane on request for hot or fire resistant fluid duty |
Manufacturing Process
- Turning and millingBlanks are turned and milled from certified bar and forging stock on CNC machines.
- Heat treatmentCarburising, quenching, tempering or nitriding to the route the original part uses.
- GrindingBores, spline seats and running faces are ground after heat treatment so distortion is removed.
- Lapping and superfinishingValve plates, shoe faces and block faces are lapped so the pair seals under pressure.
- InspectionDimensions, hardness and surface finish are recorded against the drawing on a sampling plan.
- Assembly and testComplete pumps are built, run in and tested for efficiency, leakage and noise before packing.
Quality Control
- Incoming material certificates are checked against the grade called for on the drawing.
- Hardness is measured after heat treatment on every batch and recorded on the batch card.
- Critical bores and running faces are gauged against the drawing tolerance, not against a sample part.
- Mating parts are matched as a set so the block, shoes and valve plate run in together.
- Rebuilt pumps are bench tested for volumetric efficiency, external leakage and sound level.
- Parts are cleaned, oiled and vacuum sealed so they arrive without surface rust.
Certifications and Documentation
Supplied on request with an order. We do not claim approvals we cannot evidence.
| Material certificate | Mill certificate for the steel grade used in the batch |
|---|---|
| Hardness report | Surface and core hardness readings after heat treatment |
| Dimensional report | Measured values for the critical features named on the drawing |
| Test bench report | Flow, efficiency, leakage and sound readings for a rebuilt pump |
| Packing list and photographs | Carton contents and photographs of the packed goods before shipment |
Customization Options

Use Guide
- Confirm the displacement digits in the code before ordering a cartridge.
- Check that the suction line is short and free of restriction, which is the usual cause of noise.
- Fill the case with oil and rotate the shaft by hand before the first start.
- Bleed the circuit at low pressure before loading the machine.
- Recheck the coupling alignment after the first hours of running.
