We start from your concept or drawing. There are two ways to put a pattern into a large steel ball, and the choice depends on whether the pattern repeats.
3D laser cutting suits uniform patterns, for example evenly spaced flowers or leaves. Every element comes out sharp with no burrs at the edge, which matters when guests and children touch the sphere. Hand crafting suits complicated or random art elements, where our workers cut precisely to your drawing and can give the elements a three dimensional quality.
Surface finishing happens after cutting: mirror polished, sandblasted, spray plated or titanium electroplated. LED kits can be fitted inside so the sphere throws coloured light through the cut pattern after dark. One sphere, two effects.

Materials
We form spheres and hemispheres in AISI 304, AISI 316 and AISI 316L stainless steel, Q235 carbon steel, H62 brass alloy and A6061 aluminium alloy. The alloy decides corrosion resistance, weight and how the surface takes a polish.
For this product the standard specification is 304 stainless steel. Tell us the site conditions and we will confirm whether a different grade is worth the cost.
Manufacturing Process
Forming happens by stamping press, water pressuring, spinning or hand assembling. Two halves are joined at the equator, the weld is ground, and the surface is finished last, after any cutting or drilling has been done.
Quality Control
Incoming material
Alloy and sheet thickness are checked against the order before any blank is cut.
Forming check
Diameter and wall are measured after pressing, spinning or water pressuring.
Weld and grind
The equator weld is inspected, then welds and burrs are ground off before finishing.
Surface inspection
Every piece is inspected for scratches, dents and polish consistency under light.
Packing
Protective packing is built around the diameter and weight, and photographs are sent before dispatch.
