Food Grade Stainless Steel Metal Detector with Rejection
View specification →What this category solves
- Wet, salty and frozen product creates a signal that masks real contamination
- Stainless steel is the hardest contaminant to detect and the most likely to come off the line itself
- Every product change needs a re-tune, which varies by operator and costs line time
- An alarm-only detector leaves removal to a person who may miss it
- Auditors ask for a stated detection limit that vague datasheets cannot give
Who it is for
- Food processors under HACCP, IFS, BRC, FSMA or ISO 22000
- QA managers who must evidence a critical control point
- Line engineers fitting detection into an existing conveyor
- Producers minimising giveaway and rework
What the range gives you
- Published sensitivity figures down to Fe 0.25 mm on the VMF-Inclined
- Phase-adapted and multi-frequency detection for frozen, wet and salty product
- Self-learning product memory from 12 up to more than 100 settings
- 304 and 316 stainless construction with closed profiles for real cleaning
- Automatic flap, pusher and air-blast rejection instead of alarm-only
Typical scenarios
- Final check after packing, before product leaves the line
- Gravity-fall installation after a tablet press or sieve
- Pipeline installation on pumped sauce, juice and liquid product
- Bulk material lines protecting downstream crushers and mills

Guides for this category
What Metals Can a Metal Detector Detect
Ferrous and non-ferrous metals behave differently in a detection field, and stainless steel is consistently the hardest to find.
The Three Metal Detection System Types in Food Processing
Conveyor, gravity-fall and pipeline systems each cover product the others cannot reach. Most plants need more than one.
Metal Detector or X-Ray for Food Inspection
The choice is decided by your hazard analysis and your packaging, not by budget. Each misses things the other catches.
Industrial Metal Detectors for Food Processing FAQ
What sensitivity should we specify
It depends on the product, not just the machine. Published empty-machine figures range from Fe 0.25 mm to Fe 1.0 mm across the range. Tell us the product and we will be honest about what it will achieve loaded.
Our product is frozen and salty. Will a detector work
Not a basic one. Ask for a model with automatic phase adjustment or multi-frequency detection, such as the FSD-2025 or the LCD auto-learning conveyor detector.
Can we avoid re-tuning at every changeover
Yes. Models with self-learning product memory store 12, 50 or 100 product settings so changeover is a selection rather than a re-tune.
Do you supply the conveyor as well
Both ways. Complete conveyor systems, or a search head such as the VMS-4 that fits over an existing belt without cutting it.
Which models come with CE documents
The food safety conveyor system and the all-purpose food detector are specified with a CE Declaration of Conformity and a Declaration of Manufacturer.
What about glass, stone and bone
A metal detector will never see those. For those contaminants you need X-ray, such as the VXR-G2 or the AVG-FX range.
Specifying industrial metal detectors for food processing
Tell us the dimensions, the throughput and the environment. We will recommend the model that fits rather than the one at the top of the range.
