- Original coils are expensive to source as spare parts, or no longer available
- A single coil size cannot serve both open ground and trashy or confined sites
- Mono coils lose usable sensitivity on mineralised ground
- Coils without a stated impedance cannot be matched to a detector circuit
- Cheap coils fail after a season of digging and weather
Who it is for
- Detectorists replacing a damaged or worn coil
- Prospectors matching coil size to ground conditions
- Dealers stocking a coil range across sizes
- Repairers matching a coil to a specific detector circuit
What the range gives you
- Sizes from 5 inch DD through to 25 inch mono, in round and elliptical forms
- Both mono and DD windings, so the coil can be matched to the ground
- Impedance stated on several models, such as 2 ohm on the 18 inch and 4 ohm on the 8 inch
- Copper and fine-wire windings with weather-resistant housings
- Custom sizes made to order
Typical scenarios
- Covering large open ground quickly with a 22 to 25 inch coil
- Working mineralised gold ground with a DD winding
- Separating targets in trashy soil with an 8 or 11 inch coil
- Re-checking ground already swept, with a 5 inch DD
Guides for this category
What Metals Can a Metal Detector Detect
Ferrous and non-ferrous metals behave differently in a detection field, and stainless steel is consistently the hardest to find.
Mono or DD Search Coil and What Size to Buy
Winding pattern is decided by your ground, and coil size by your site. Getting either wrong wastes a season.
Metal Detector Search Coils FAQ
Will a coil fit my detector
Send us your detector make and model on WhatsApp. We will confirm connector, cable length and impedance before you order rather than after.
Mono or DD, which should I buy
Mono gives more depth on clean open ground. DD handles mineralised and trashy ground where a mono coil cannot be run at useful sensitivity.
Do you publish impedance
On some models, yes: 2 ohm on the 18 inch mono and 4 ohm average on the 8 inch. For others we will confirm before you order.
Can you make a size that is not in the range
Yes, coils can be made in a range of lengths and diameters. Send your dimensions.
Are they suitable for use in water
Several are specified for use in the ground or under water. Confirm the depth limit with us before diving with one.
Can you quote a mixed carton of sizes
Yes. Send the sizes and quantities on WhatsApp and we will price it.
Specifying metal detector search coils
Tell us the dimensions, the throughput and the environment. We will recommend the model that fits rather than the one at the top of the range.
