What this family is for
Self-tapping screws are the right answer when the hole already exists or when the substrate is too thin to drill. They form their own thread as they go, which means the thread profile and the point geometry decide whether the joint holds or strips. This family covers oval head window screws for aluminium and UPVC frames, pan framing screws for light-gauge steel, and modified truss heads where a wide bearing surface is needed on soft board.
