Wheels Blades and Powder for the Glass Edge Sequence
Glass shows every process fault at the edge, and the edge is made by a sequence: rough grinding, fine grinding, first and second polish, fine polish, high gloss. We supply the wheels for each step, the blades and drills ahead of it, and thirteen grades of cerium oxide for the end of it.
What Goes Wrong and What Fixes It
Chipping at the exit edge
Usually too much feed or a bond that has glazed over. Continuous rim blades and the correct bond fix it.
Hazy edges after polishing
A step was skipped or run too fast. The 10S, BK, BD and wool felt sequence exists to be followed in order.
Holes that start cracks
An un-chamfered hole edge is a crack waiting to happen, which is why core bits and countersinks are supplied to match.
Powder that varies between batches
Thirteen FY grades with published chemical and physical index values, so you buy on numbers rather than on a promise.
Where the Tools Are Used
Cutting
Continuous rim blades for flat glass and segmented blades for laminated work, 80-350 mm.
Straight-line and double edging
Metal bond wheels at 80#, 100# and 120# for rough grinding, then resin bond for fine and finish grinding.
Bevelling
Metal bond wheels that clear grinding scraps and resin bond wheels for the finish stage.
Shaped glass
Special shape edging wheels from 50 to 200 mm and CNC routers for machining centres.
Drilling
Core bits with matching countersinks for chip-free holes.
Polishing
10S, BK, BD and wool felt wheels plus cerium oxide powder for high gloss.

What is the correct polishing order
Fine grinding with 10S, first and second polish with BK, fine polish with BD, then wool felt with cerium oxide powder for high gloss.
Which cerium oxide grade should I use
It depends on gloss target, machine and glass type. Send those three and we will recommend from the FY series.
