What This Product Is For
A stainless steel flange is the disc shaped part that joins two lengths of pipe, with a gasket between the faces and bolts pulling them together. This programme covers DN15 through DN1200 in Class 150, 300, 600, 900 and 1500, in the plate, slip on, weld neck, blind and threaded types. Material runs from ASTM A182 F304 and F316 through to 904L, 2205, 2507 and 321, so the flange can be matched to the line it serves.
Key Benefits
- One size table from DN15 to DN1200 covers instrument tappings through to large header connections
- Five pressure classes so the flange rating matches the line rather than being over specified
- Five face and body types including weld neck for high pressure and blind for future tie ins
- Duplex and super austenitic grades available for chloride and acid service
- Bolt circle, hole count and thread published from DN15 up, which removes guesswork at detail design

Who It Is For
- Piping designers detailing flanged joints to GB, ASTM, JIS, EN or DIN
- Pipe spool fabricators buying flanges by the set
- Plant maintenance teams replacing corroded joints
- Distributors stocking stainless flanges across pressure classes
Problems It Solves
- Mismatched bolt circles when flanges come from two different standards
- Leaking joints where the class was under specified for the line pressure
- Threaded flanges used above their practical pressure limit
- Long waits for duplex and super austenitic flanges in large diameters
Application Scenarios
- Process pipeline connections that need to be broken for maintenance
- Large diameter header and manifold tie ins
- High pressure lines above 4 kg where a welded flange is required rather than a threaded one
- Chloride bearing service where 904L, 2205 or 2507 is specified

Manufacturing Process
- Forging
- Machining
- Drilling
- Facing
Quality Control
- Bolt circle diameter, hole count and hole diameter checked against the ordered standard and class
- Flange thickness verified within the 12 mm to 58 mm range for the size
- Material grade confirmed against the ASTM A182 designation on the order
- Face finish inspected before packing
Customisation Options
- Flange type selected from PL, SO, WN, BL or TH
- Standard selected from GB, ASTM, JIS, EN or DIN
- Material upgraded to 904L, 2205 or 2507 for chloride or acid service
Use Guide
- Fix the standard first, because GB, ASTM, JIS, EN and DIN do not share the same bolt circles
- Match flange class to the design pressure, not to the pipe schedule alone
- Fit a gasket between the two faces and tighten the bolts in a crossing pattern
- Use the published thickness and bolt hole table to check clearance before detailing the spool
How It Compares With the Alternatives
| Threaded flange | Low pressure lines can use a threaded flange, but above about 4 kg of pressure a welded flange is used instead |
|---|---|
| Slip on flange | A weld neck flange transfers stress into the pipe wall and is preferred at Class 600 and above, while a slip on is quicker to fit at low pressure |
| Carbon steel flange | Stainless holds up in wet and chloride service where a coated carbon flange corrodes at the gasket face first |
