What This Product Is For
Nickel alloy 625 exhaust tubing is cold worked seamless tube covered by ASTM B444 under UNS N06625, also carried as BS 3074 NA21 and DIN material 2.4856. It is supplied in two grades: Grade 1 in the annealed condition and Grade 2 in the solution annealed condition. Both are used where an exhaust or hot gas path has to survive heat, vibration and corrosive condensate at once.
Key Benefits
- Solid solution strengthening holds tensile and yield strength at exhaust gas temperature without a separate ageing treatment
- Two delivery conditions let you pick annealed for forming or solution annealed for creep duty
- Seamless and welded construction available across the same size range
- Size band from 3.00 mm to 219.10 mm outside diameter covers instrument lines and main exhaust runs from one supplier
- Straight, redrawn, hot rolled and cold rolled forms available for downstream fabrication

Who It Is For
- Exhaust system fabricators building high temperature assemblies
- Turbine and power equipment OEMs sourcing UNS N06625 tube
- Heat exchanger builders needing seamless nickel alloy tube
- Buyers working to ASTM B444, ASME SB444 or DIN 2.4856
Problems It Solves
- Stainless exhaust tubing that scales and loses strength above its service limit
- Tube that cracks when bent because it arrived in the wrong heat treated condition
- Sourcing delays when small diameter and large diameter tube come from two different mills
- Uncertain tensile and yield data on imported nickel tube
Application Scenarios
- Engine and turbine exhaust sections that cycle between ambient and red heat
- Marine and offshore exhaust runs exposed to salt laden air
- Heat exchanger tubing where a nickel base grade is specified
- Chemical process lines carrying hot acidic condensate

- Covered by ASTM B444, ASME SB444, BS 3074 NA21 and DIN 2.4856
- Density 8.4 g per cubic centimetre
Materials
- Nickel chromium molybdenum niobium alloy 625, UNS N06625
Manufacturing Process
- Cold worked seamless tube making
- Tube welding
- Redrawing
- Solution annealing
- Bending
Quality Control
- Chemical composition verified against ASTM B444 for both grades
- Tensile test to confirm room temperature tensile strength and yield strength
- Delivery condition recorded as annealed or solution annealed on the certificate
- Dimensional check on outside diameter, wall thickness and length
Customisation Options
- Seamless, seam welded, redrawn, straight, hot rolled or cold rolled forms
- Single random, double random or cut length
- Grade 1 or Grade 2 delivery condition specified on the order
Use Guide
- Order Grade 1 if the tube will be bent or flared after delivery, Grade 2 if it goes straight into high temperature service
- Use matching ERNiCrMo-3 class filler for welded joints
- Allow for the low thermal conductivity of nickel alloys when setting bending and welding heat input
- Keep the tube clear of sulphur bearing lubricants before any heat treatment
How It Compares With the Alternatives
| 321 stainless exhaust tubing | Alloy 625 keeps far more strength and oxidation resistance at sustained exhaust temperature, where a stabilised stainless is already at its limit |
|---|---|
| Inconel 600 tube | Alloy 625 adds molybdenum and niobium, which lifts strength and pitting resistance in acidic condensate |
| Alloy 625 Grade 2 | Grade 1 is annealed and easier to form, Grade 2 is solution annealed for higher temperature service |
