How often does the diaphragm need replacing
It depends on cycle count, temperature and media rather than on calendar time. Plan the first inspection at a scheduled shutdown and set the interval from what you find. We supply replacement diaphragms in EPDM, silicone, PTFE and Viton for every body in the catalogue.
Can a diaphragm valve be steam sterilised
Yes, with the correct diaphragm material. Tell us the SIP temperature and hold time when you order so that the diaphragm and body combination is specified for it.

Because the actuation mechanism is sealed away from the product by the diaphragm itself. There is no stem penetration and no seat cavity, which is what high purity water and sterile duties require.
