Particle board is wood chips and shavings bonded under heat and pressure into a flat, dimensionally stable panel at the lowest cost per square metre in the engineered panel family.
It exists to make furniture affordable at volume, and it does that job well as long as the specification matches the application: fixings, edges and humidity are where it is unforgiving.
