Moisture resistant MDF is made with a resin system that slows water uptake, and is dyed green through the core so nobody on the shop floor can confuse it with a standard panel.
It does not make fibreboard waterproof. What it does is buy time, so a splash on a kitchen carcass does not become a swollen edge.
