A stainless spring clip designed to lock positively into position once fitted, rather than relying on friction alone. Locking clips are used where vibration or handling would gradually work an ordinary clip loose.
The clip engages a feature in the housing so that vibration cannot walk it out of position.
Locking clips are often used on equipment that is both vibrated and washed, where plating would not last.
How the clip is released is designed in, so servicing does not mean destroying the clip.
Document the release method in your service instructions. Locking clips are frequently damaged by technicians who have not been told how they are meant to come off.
