Product Overview
Taconite seal (machined cast iron or steel) consists of two rings (one stationary and one rotating), which form a very narrow labyrinth between them.
The rotating labyrinth ring carries an internal, low-friction V-ring seal that seals against the stationary labyrinth ring, blocks contaminants from entering the bearing housing, and contributes to effective purging of grease.
The rotating labyrinth ring, facing the bearing housing, serves to deflect and fling away water.
This compact seal features a shorter axial width compared with conventional types to offer space-saving advantages.
Seals can be supplied to easily fit bearing housings in a range of shaft sizes from 50 mm (1-15/16 in.) to 450 mm (18 in.) as standard.

Materials
Brass, steel,stainless steel. GCr15 is the standard high carbon chrome bearing steel, and GCr15SiMn adds silicon and manganese so that larger rings harden through the section. Case carburised grades are used where shock loading is high. Cage material for this reference is no cage.

Use Guide
Fitting And Service Notes
- Check the shaft and housing seats for size, roundness and damage before opening the packaging.
- Push mounting force through the ring that carries the interference fit, never through the rolling elements.
- Where heat mounting is used, keep the bearing below roughly 120 degrees Celsius and never apply a flame.
- Set clearance or preload as the machine drawing specifies, then fill with the specified lubricant.
- Turn the assembly by hand and listen before the machine is started.
