How To Choose A Non Woven Slitting And Rewinding Machine

Five questions that decide which rewinder you should buy: jumbo roll width, finished roll format, material family, tension control and whether the roll must leave the machine finished.

Start From The Finished Roll Not The Machine

Buyers usually ask for a machine width first. The more useful starting point is the roll your customer receives: its width, diameter, core size, whether it is perforated or scored, and how firm it has to be. A 300 mm finished roll with 10 cm perforation pitch and a 1000 mm jumbo roll points straight at the AQ-R(1800) class. A mixed order book of many widths points at the adjustable-width AQ-FR instead.

Match Tension Control To The Material Family

Tension is where most roll quality problems start. Soft spunlace crushes under settings that suit stiff PP woven, and woven fabric wanders under settings that suit spunlace. The AQ-R (1200-3500) offers four modes, magnetic powder, lateral, conveyor belt and servo, so one frame covers several material families. If you only ever run one material, a single automatic tension control system is enough.

Woven Fabrics Slitting And Rewinding Machine (AQ-R (1200-3500))

Decide How Much The Machine Should Finish

A plain slitter returns a cut roll. A servo build such as the AQ-R(1800) or AQ-R(3500) completes embossing, scoring, counting, slitting and rewinding in one pass, so the roll leaves ready to pack with a flat end face and a clear score line. Each extra pass you avoid is one less chance to damage the web and one less operator handling it.

Check Length Verification Before You Ship To A New Customer

Length disputes are the most common commercial argument in roll goods. Machines with infrared automatic counting stop at the set length, and we calibrate the counter against a measured length before shipment. If you sell by the metre, this is not optional.

Non Woven Fabric Inspection Machine (AQ-I(1600))

Plan Inspection Separately From Slitting

If you buy jumbo rolls from several mills, an inspection machine pays for itself before a slitter does. The AQ-I(1600) unwinds, inspects, counts and rewinds at 100-120 m/min with a 1650 mm breadth, so defects are found before you add converting value to bad material.

FAQ

Questions On This Topic

What width machine should we order?

Order to your jumbo roll width, not to your finished roll width. Our builds run from 1200 mm to 3500 mm and the slitting positions are set inside that width.

Can one machine do perforation and plain rolls?

Yes. On the AQ-R(1800) the perforation unit can be switched out of the run, so both perforated and non-perforated rolls are produced on the same machine.

How long does a rewinding machine take to deliver?

About 35 days after order confirmation for most builds.
