Product Overview
Every fire pit ball is designed and cut by hand, so each one is a unique piece. Traditional, western and fully customised styles are available.
Each ball is assembled from two of our carbon steel hemispheres in 5mm or 6mm steel. We weld them together and clean the sphere of oil and debris. Our artist draws the scene on the ball by hand, we plasma cut it, then grind off the welds and burrs and apply heat resistant paint.
Standard designs follow one of our themes. Customised balls come out of a consultation with you. Each drawing develops at its own pace, and the cutting process itself adds to the drawing as the look of the individual ball emerges. The finished ball can be painted with heat proof paint or left to weather into a natural rust patina, which takes many decades to affect the steel and looks organic in an appealing industrial way.

Materials
We form spheres and hemispheres in AISI 304, AISI 316 and AISI 316L stainless steel, Q235 carbon steel, H62 brass alloy and A6061 aluminium alloy. The alloy decides corrosion resistance, weight and how the surface takes a polish.
For this product the standard specification is Q235 Carbon Steel. Tell us the site conditions and we will confirm whether a different grade is worth the cost.
Manufacturing Process
Forming happens by stamping press, water pressuring, spinning or hand assembling. Two halves are joined at the equator, the weld is ground, and the surface is finished last, after any cutting or drilling has been done.
Quality Control
Incoming material
Alloy and sheet thickness are checked against the order before any blank is cut.
Forming check
Diameter and wall are measured after pressing, spinning or water pressuring.
Weld and grind
The equator weld is inspected, then welds and burrs are ground off before finishing.
Surface inspection
Every piece is inspected for scratches, dents and polish consistency under light.
Packing
Protective packing is built around the diameter and weight, and photographs are sent before dispatch.

Choose the finish last
Finishing always happens after forming, welding, cutting and grinding, so pattern edges stay clean.
Plan the fixing
Tell us whether the piece is bolted, threaded, welded to a base tube or suspended, and we build the fitting into the part.
Check the shipping limit
∅2200mm fits a container, ∅3500mm fits a flat rack, and larger spheres are segmented with bolted ribs.
