Not every lift needs a crane across the whole building. A jib serves one machine, one bench or one loading point, swinging within a radius from a pillar, a wall bracket or a davit socket. It costs less than a travelling crane, takes no runway steel and can often be added to a shop without touching the roof. The choice between pillar, wall mounted and davit types comes down to what you can fix it to and how much of a circle you need to cover.
