What goes wrong in this sector
Agricultural product inspection is the hardest case for traditional rule-based vision, because the accepted population varies more than the defects do. A model built by writing rules about shape and colour fails on the first unusual but perfectly good item.
Training on good product instead solves this directly. The anomaly detection model uses good-quality images to perform pixel-level detection and whole-image classification, catching both known and unknown defects, which is what a natural product needs. Agricultural products are listed among the sectors our systems are applied in, alongside food, dairy, pharmaceutical, daily chemicals and electronic components.
