How a Vehicle Camera Is Manufactured

From specification to carton, the steps a vehicle camera passes through and the points where a buyer can actually influence the outcome.

Specification Before Anything Is Cut

The specification fixes housing family and colour, lens angle, sensor, cable length, connector type, label artwork and packaging. For an OEM or ODM order this is the document everything else is checked against, and it is the cheapest place in the whole process to change your mind.

Sampling and Approval

A physical sample is built to the specification and shipped for approval. This is the point at which a buyer discovers that the cable is two metres short for the actual routing, or that the housing colour does not match the vehicle. Approving a sample before production is not a formality; it is the only realistic quality gate a remote buyer has.

Component Sourcing

Sensor, lens assembly, housing, gasket, cable and connector are sourced against the approved specification. Substituting any of them without notice is what turns a repeat order into a warranty problem, which is why the approved sample is kept as the reference.

Assembly and Sealing

The camera is assembled, the gasket is compressed and the cable gland is made off. On sealed housings this stage decides the eventual IP performance far more than the material of the body does.

Function and Image Check

Each unit is checked for power up, image output and, where fitted, infrared operation, against the approved sample. Our production is carried out strictly in accordance with the ISO9001 standard.

Packing and Dispatch

Units are packed into retail boxes or bulk inner packing as the order specifies, then into export cartons. Sea shipments load at Shenzhen or Guangzhou; express, air and land freight are also available.
