Introduction
Sea bream, Sparus aurata, is a premium fish valued for its delicate flavour, tender flesh and rich nutritional profile. With a sweet mild taste and a firm texture it is a favourite among home cooks and professional chefs across Europe and Asia.
Chinese Name and Where It Comes From
Sea bream is known in Chinese as Hai Diao and also as golden bream. The species lives mainly in seawater and has a laterally compressed oval body with a bluish green back, a silver white belly and a distinctive golden spot on the top of the head. In Chinese, Diao generally refers to sea fish with a flattened body and delicate tasty flesh, and the alternate name golden bream highlights the golden head spot.
Product Specifications
Common sizes run approximately 500g to 1.5kg. Forms available are whole round, GGS, boneless fillets and slices, processed at EU approved plant number 4404/02003.
Farming and Origin
Our sea bream is farmed in China using sea based cage systems, marine net pens, in coastal waters, which allows natural seawater exchange during the growing cycle.
Processing Facility Behind the Product
The plant covers 100,000 square metres with an annual production capacity of 50,000 metric tons and 4,000 metric tons of intelligent cold storage, alongside a 700 square metre sea bass theme pavilion. Certifications include HACCP, ISO, BAP and FDA.
