Is 12.9 always better than 8.8?
No. Higher grades are stronger but less ductile and more sensitive to hydrogen embrittlement from plating. Specify the grade the connection was designed for.
What finish do you recommend on structural bolts?
It depends on the grade. High-strength bolts and electroplating need care — tell us the grade and the exposure and we will advise on the finish.
