A hook spring in 65Mn manganese spring steel with a black coating, combining a coil body with a formed hook so that the part both tensions and connects. It is used where a spring needs to attach directly to a fixture without a separate link.
The coil provides the tension and the formed hook provides the attachment, with no joint between them.
Manganese spring steel gives better fatigue performance than plain carbon steel where the part works continuously.
