Choosing a Solar Fishing Light

Run time through a full night, an IP rating that survives spray, and a hanging arrangement that works on a boat.

A fishing light has a harder job than a household lantern. It has to work all night, not for an evening, and it has to survive water thrown at it from every direction while doing it.

Run Time Is the Whole Specification

Fishing does not stop at 10pm. The Sinoware fishing light is specified two ways:

A 7800mAh pack, three 2600mAh lithium cells, giving at least 12 hours above 200 lumens.
A four cell pack of 3.6V 3000mAh cells, giving 12 hours at 500 lumens.

Both carry two brightness selection levels, and it is the lower level that gets a light comfortably past a full night.

Panel Size Sets Whether It Recovers

The light is supplied with a 13W or 30W polycrystalline panel on a 5 metre cable. A pack that large will not refill from a token panel. If the boats go out most nights, the larger panel is the difference between a light that is ready and a light that is half charged.

IP65 Means Spray, Not Submersion

The light is rated IP65, which covers rain and spray from any direction. It cannot be used underwater. That distinction matters because a lure light will end up in the water at some point, and a customer who was promised waterproof will treat it as submersible.

Mounting on a Boat

A hook or rope is available, and a remote is optional. On an open boat the hanging arrangement is what decides whether the light survives a season, because a light that swings into a gunwale every night will not last however good its housing is.

Why the Control Was Developed In House

Solar fishing lamp design and control is one of the six technologies Sinoware develops itself. A fishing light needs brightness stepping and run time behaviour tuned for a night of use, not the profile of a room lamp, and that is a firmware decision as much as a hardware one.
