Why We Have an R&D Team at All

In 2010 an Indonesian customer needed a specific solar lamp in quantity for the PLN SEHEN requirement. We searched hard and could not source it. No factory wanted to develop for that demand without confidence and an assurance of future orders. We proposed several replacement solar systems and every one was refused, because an open tender has to be followed exactly as written.

So we built the R&D team ourselves. From moulding through components, after eight months of day and night work, the lamp passed the Indonesian laboratory test. We then supplied 150,000 pieces to Lapuwan Island near Bali.

Quality and cost are the two points the company designs around, in that order. If a target price cannot be met without dropping something that matters, we say which part would have to go, and you decide. We do not quietly thin a specification to win a price.
