What a PAYG Operator Actually Has To Solve

Three things have to work at once: a household that cannot pay up front, an agent who needs the unlock to work every time, and a back office that has to track it all. The hardware is only one of the three, but it is the one that destroys trust fastest when it fails.

How the Payment Cycle Works

The customer makes an instalment payment with mobile money or cash.
The customer receives a recharge code on their phone by SMS.
The customer enters the token on the keypad of the product.
The product unlocks and can be used for the corresponding period.

Nothing at the product end needs a data connection. That is the whole point of a token.

Platform and Certification

The systems are supplied on the PaygOps platform and the hardware is OpenPAYGO certified. An operator does not have to write firmware or build a token server.

Running Two Channels From One Product

The SW-HS4-2LI and SW-HS8-4LI exist in PAYG and non-PAYG builds on the same chassis. A distributor can sell cash in the towns and instalments in the villages without carrying two unrelated products, two sets of spares and two sets of agent training.

What the Systems Carry

FM radio, Bluetooth, headset and music player, laptop charging, DC fan and DC TV load, home lighting for several rooms, and a mobile charger with automatic current detection. Charging is by solar panel or by mains adapter. Protection covers over charge, over discharge, over current and short circuit.
