Swiss Lace vs French Lace: What Each One Does

Swiss lace is finer and more delicate than French lace. It is more transparent and blends better with very light or fair skin tones. It is also more fragile and can tear more easily during handling or re-attachment.

French lace is stronger and more durable than Swiss lace. It holds up better to repeated removal and cleaning, but it is slightly more visible at the hairline, especially in bright light.

Why The Front Construction Matters

The hairline is the most visible part of a hair system. Two methods make it look natural: bleached knots and V-loop fronts.

Bleached knots lighten the dark knot so it matches your scalp colour. V-loop fronts have no knot at all - hair is looped into the lace and comes back out, so there is no dark dot to catch light.

• V-loop fronts are invisible in daylight and allow a clean parting
• Bleached knots are effective but may darken over time with washing
• V-loop is the preferred method for a straight-back style or a clean part

The Trade-Off Nobody Should Hide From You

Lace breathes better than skin or mono, so it stays cooler on your scalp. But it is also more fragile. The knots can shed over time, especially if you wash or style the unit frequently.

The more you handle the front, the more knots may come loose. This is the trade-off: breathability and natural look come at the cost of durability at the hairline.

Fitting And Looking After One

Lace is more sensitive to moisture and heat than poly or mono. Keep it dry when not in use, and avoid alcohol-based products near the front.

Attach with liquid adhesive or double-sided tape. Clean residue after every removal to maintain bond strength.

• Do not pull on the lace edges - handle the back and sides instead
• Store the unit on a wig stand to maintain shape and prevent tangling
