Geely has quietly become the single most important Chinese automaker for independent export dealers. Not the largest by domestic sales (SAIC is), not the most hyped globally (BYD is), but the one with the most consistently export-friendly portfolio, the deepest multi-brand coverage, and the most mature international infrastructure. Here's a practical pricing and export guide for Geely cars in 2026.
What Geely actually is
Geely Holding Group is a privately-owned Chinese automaker. Key brands:
- Geely (the core brand) — mainstream passenger vehicles including EX5, EX2, Coolray, Emgrand, Starray EM-i, Galaxy L7.
- Zeekr — premium EV brand. Separate article ( Zeekr export guide ).
- Volvo Cars — wholly owned; sold globally as a Swedish brand.
- Polestar — premium EV subsidiary, sold as Swedish.
- Lotus — British sports car brand, now Geely-owned.
- Lynk & Co — subscription-focused European/Chinese joint venture.
- Proton — Malaysian automaker, majority Geely. The Proton eMas 7 in Malaysia is a rebadged Geely EX5.
For export purposes, "Geely" in this article refers to the core Geely brand unless otherwise specified. Zeekr is covered separately.
Geely's core export lineup in 2026
Geely Starray EM-i (2026 super-hybrid)
Our top recommendation for most export markets. Specs: 1.5L hybrid engine, 46.5% thermal efficiency, 18.4 kWh LFP battery, 125 km EV range on CLTC, 1,400+ km combined. Mid-size SUV, 5 seats. Six exterior colors. Two trims (Complete, Inspire).
FOB pricing: quote on RFQ. For markets where PHEV is the sweet spot (Pakistan, Nigeria, Central Asia, parts of Latin America), Starray EM-i is genuinely class-leading.
Geely EX5 (BEV SUV)
Mainstream electric SUV. 530-610 km CLTC range, 60.2/68.4 kWh LFP battery options, factory-RHD and LHD. Ships to 35+ countries. In Malaysia marketed as the Proton eMas 7.
FOB pricing: quote on RFQ. Our most-shipped Geely model overall.
Geely EX2 (compact urban EV)
Compact city-focused EV. 30 kWh LFP, 410 km CLTC, 4 exterior colors. Lowest-priced Geely EV we'd actively stock for export dealers.
FOB pricing: quote on RFQ. For urban ride-hail, compact retail, and last-mile commercial use.
Geely Coolray (ICE compact SUV)
Gasoline compact SUV. 1M+ units sold globally. Very strong in Russia, CIS, Middle East, Latin America. 1.5T engine.
FOB pricing: quote on RFQ. The non-EV workhorse of Geely's export portfolio.
Geely Emgrand (ICE compact sedan)
Budget compact sedan. 1.5L ICE or Hi-P hybrid. High-volume export model across many emerging markets.
FOB pricing: quote on RFQ. The most affordable Geely in our regular lineup.
Geely Galaxy L7 (PHEV SUV)
Previous-generation plug-in hybrid SUV. Similar concept to Starray EM-i but with earlier specs. Still current and available for markets where Starray EM-i homologation is pending.
Why Geely works for independent dealers
Broad market coverage
Geely already exports to 35-50+ countries. Factory export infrastructure (homologation packages, documentation, service networks) exists for most major markets. You're not building from scratch; you're plugging into existing capability.
Multi-brand portfolio
A single supplier relationship can cover mainstream (Geely), premium (Zeekr), affordable (Emgrand), and specialist niches. This lets dealers serve multiple customer segments without managing multiple Chinese supplier relationships.
RHD factory availability
Geely and Zeekr both build RHD models from the factory — EX5, Zeekr X, Zeekr 001, Zeekr 007, Coolray. This matters enormously for UK, Australia, New Zealand, Malaysia, India, and parts of Southeast Asia.
Lower official-channel conflict
In many emerging markets, Geely's direct distributor presence is less saturating than BYD's. This gives independent dealers more room to operate without stepping on the manufacturer's direct retail business.
What Geely isn't suitable for
Markets with strong factory-direct Geely retail presence (Malaysia via Proton, specific GCC markets, UK, Australia) have more competitive dynamics for independent dealers. In these markets, independent importers usually need to focus on specific niches — fleet sales, secondary cities, models not in the official lineup — rather than trying to compete on price with the national distributor.
Sourcing Geely for export
FOBEV's primary supply relationship is with Geely Holding Group through our Shanghai Fengxian 4S dealer partnership. We can quote any Geely or Zeekr model currently in production with export homologation. For specific vehicle + market combinations, send us an RFQ .
A useful first RFQ includes:
- Destination country and port
- Target vehicle (model, trim, drive side)
- Quantity (even approximate)
- Preferred Incoterm (FOB, CIF, or DDP if available)
- Timing
Turnaround on initial quotations is usually within one Shanghai business day.
