What This Part Does

A sinker sits between two needles in the sinker ring and moves radially, driven by the sinker cam. As the needle rises to clear the old loop, the sinker nose holds the previously formed loop down so it cannot ride up with the needle. On the descent the sinker throat controls where the new loop is drawn.
