How much oil should a machine get?
The rate depends on machine speed, yarn and ambient conditions, so it is set on the machine and then checked on the fabric. The goal is the lowest rate that keeps the needle bed lubricated without marking the fabric.
Which oil should be used?
Use a knitting oil intended for needle bed lubrication that washes out of the fabric. Follow your machine builder recommendation for viscosity.
Can a blower be fitted to an older machine?
In most cases yes, provided there is a mounting point and a power supply. Send photos of the machine top and the area around the needle line.
