Who This Range Is For

A bobbin is the part that fixes everything else in a wound component: the number of turns you can fit, the creepage between primary and secondary, the pin pattern the PCB has to accept and the temperature the winding survives during soldering. CB Magnetics moulds coil formers for the core shapes the switching power industry actually uses, and publishes the pin pitch, row spacing, pin material and plastic for each one so a designer can lock a footprint before ordering samples.

Typical buyers are power supply and magnetics designers fixing a footprint, and sourcing engineers at contract manufacturers who need one supplier to cover a whole series rather than a single size.

  • Geometry that is only revealed after samples arrive, which blocks the PCB layout.
  • A plastic body that will not survive the soldering profile in use.
  • Buying the former, the core and the winding from three suppliers and reconciling three tolerances.

Phenolic DAP PBT PET and GFN bodies are used across the range, rated UL 94-V0 and Class F where the drawing states it.

Tooling made in house

Custom tooling design and injection moulding is a standing service, so a special pin count or section split is a tooling job rather than a refusal.

Do you sell from stock or make to order

Both. Catalogue geometries run from existing tools. New geometries are a tooling job, and tool design and injection moulding are handled in the same plant.

Can you supply the core as well as the plastic part

Yes. Silicon steel amorphous and nanocrystalline cores are part of the same catalogue, and complete wound transformers and inductors can be quoted as a finished component.
