What Is Amorphous Core
What amorphous and nanocrystalline cores are made of and where they outperform ferrite and iron powder.
An amorphous core is composed of iron, silicon, boron, antimony, copper and other elements.
Compared with traditional soft magnetic materials such as ferrite and iron powder core, amorphous nanocrystalline materials have high saturation magnetic induction, high magnetic permeability, low coercivity, high inductance and low loss.
Amorphous nanocrystalline materials also have good frequency characteristics, good temperature stability, and small size together with high strength and toughness, wear resistance and corrosion resistance. Amorphous cores have the best performance to price ratio among metal soft magnetic materials.
Amorphous nanocrystalline alloy material can replace silicon steel, permalloy and ferrite as an ideal material for medium and high frequency transformers, transformers and inductor components.

Questions On This Topic
When should I move from ferrite to amorphous
When ferrite saturates at the flux level you need, or when core loss at your frequency and temperature is too high.
Do you supply nanocrystalline cores too
Yes. Silicon steel, amorphous and nanocrystalline cores are all in the catalogue.
Can the core come already mounted
Yes. Cores can be supplied fitted into bases and cases from our own toroid mount range.
