Caustic soda pearls are sodium hydroxide formed into small round granules. The other name you will see on enquiries and customs paperwork is granulated caustic soda. The molecular formula is NaOH and the appearance is a white pearl in solid form.
The pearl shape is what buyers pay for. It pours cleanly out of a bag, meters accurately through a screw feeder or a hopper, and throws off far less airborne dust than a powder. That matters on a site where operators charge a mixing tank by hand several times a shift.

Warehousing
Sealed bags move under cover so the product stays dry until the container arrives.
Loading
Bags are palletised or floor stacked and squared off. We load around 80 containers a month.

Use Guide
Making Up A Solution Safely
Sodium hydroxide releases a large amount of heat when it dissolves. The order in which you combine the materials is the single most important control.
- Always add caustic soda to water. Never add water to caustic soda.
- Add the pearls slowly and in small portions while the water is stirred so the heat of solution is carried away instead of building up in one spot.
- Use cold water for make up and allow the solution to cool before it is transferred or dosed.
- Wear chemical splash goggles a face shield gloves and a long sleeved chemical resistant apron.
- Close the bag immediately after use. An open bag will pick up moisture and carbon dioxide from the air.
- Keep the store dry and away from acids aluminium zinc and organic materials.
Storage
