This is a cold finished TP347 seamless pipe supplied to ASME B36.19 dimensions and ASTM A213 material requirements, in a fixed size of 168.3 mm outside diameter, 4.2 mm wall and 8000 mm length. TP347 is a niobium…
What This Product Is For
This is a cold finished TP347 seamless pipe supplied to ASME B36.19 dimensions and ASTM A213 material requirements, in a fixed size of 168.3 mm outside diameter, 4.2 mm wall and 8000 mm length. TP347 is a niobium stabilised austenitic grade, which keeps chromium carbide out of the grain boundaries after welding and after service between 425 and 815 C. Buyers use it where a 304 or 316 line would sensitise and fail at the weld.
Key Benefits
- Niobium stabilised chemistry resists intergranular attack in the heat affected zone after welding
- Cold finished surface gives a tighter bore and a cleaner inside wall than a hot finished pipe of the same schedule
- Fixed 8000 mm mill length reduces the number of field joints on a long run
- Six finish options from pickled through mirror let one grade cover both structural and sanitary duty
- Shipped in 7 to 20 days so a stalled maintenance window can still be closed

Who It Is For
- EPC contractors buying line pipe against an ASME B36.19 schedule
- Refinery and chemical plant maintenance teams replacing a sensitised 304 line
- Pressure vessel and boiler fabricators who weld and cannot re-anneal
- Pipe stockists carrying stabilised grades in DN150
Problems It Solves
- Weld decay in unstabilised austenitic pipe after welding or after high temperature service
- Short random lengths that force extra site welds and extra NDT
- Mixed finish requirements that would otherwise mean two separate purchase orders
- Long mill lead times when a shutdown date is already fixed
Application Scenarios
- High temperature steam and flue gas lines that cycle through the carbide precipitation range
- Refinery and petrochemical piping welded on site without post weld solution annealing
- Construction and structural runs in DN150 where a stabilised grade is specified
- Oil and gas gathering lines that see chloride bearing condensate

Materials
- TP347 austenitic stainless steel
Manufacturing Process
- Seamless piercing and elongating
- Cold finishing
- Heat treatment
- Pickling and surface finishing
Quality Control
- Chemical composition verified against the ASTM A213 TP347 ranges before release
- Outside diameter, wall thickness and length checked against the ordered 168.3 x 4.2 x 8000 mm
- Surface inspected after pickling or polishing for the ordered finish
- Mill test certificate issued with each heat
Customisation Options
- Surface finish selected from pickled, 2B, No.4, BA, hairline or mirror
- Cut length to buyer drawing instead of the standard 8000 mm
- Export packing to buyer packing specification
Use Guide
- Confirm the schedule against ASME B36.19 before ordering, as 4.2 mm wall on 168.3 mm OD is a fixed combination here
- Use a matching 347 or 347H filler metal so the stabilisation carries through the weld
- Pickle and passivate any field weld that will see chloride service
- Store on timber dunnage, not directly on carbon steel racks, to avoid iron contamination of the surface
How It Compares With the Alternatives
| TP304 seamless pipe | TP347 carries niobium stabilisation, so it keeps corrosion resistance at the weld where plain 304 sensitises |
|---|---|
| TP321 seamless pipe | Both are stabilised, but TP347 uses niobium instead of titanium, which survives cross country welding and repeated heat cycles with less stabiliser loss |
| Welded TP347 pipe | A seamless body has no longitudinal weld to inspect or to fail, which matters on cyclic high temperature service |
