A U shaped wire form in stainless steel, the simplest and most widely used wire form geometry. The two legs act as a spring against whatever sits between them, which makes the U a clip, a retainer and a spring all at once.
The spring action comes from the leg spread, so no separate spring element is needed.
No coating to wear through where the part is cleaned regularly or lives outdoors.
The gap and the leg length are set against the component it grips, not to a nominal size.
Do not spread the legs beyond the range agreed at sampling. Over-spreading sets the bend and permanently reduces the grip.
