A steel compression spring, ground on both ends and chrome plated, for positions where the spring must seat flat and also be seen. Chrome gives a hard bright surface that resists handling marks in assemblies that are inspected or displayed.
Double end grinding keeps the load axial, which stops the spring wearing its seat or pushing the mechanism off centre.
More resistant to handling marks than nickel or zinc, which matters on parts that are handled during assembly and inspection.
Wire size, coil diameter, free length and coil count are all set by your drawing.
Check that both seats in your assembly are flat and parallel. Ground spring ends can only stay square if what they sit on is square too.
Springs tilting under load because only one end was ground
Plated finishes marking during assembly on parts the end customer can see
Dimensional and load figures are set per order against your drawing or sample, so they are marked TBC rather than filled with catalogue numbers.

Available in Stainless steel, Spring steel, Carbon steel, 65Mn, Music wire, in wire from 0.1-8 mm, with any of our nine surface finishing routes. Geometry, end treatment and finish are all specified per order.
ISO 9001, SGS certificate and RoHS report (stated on the legacy site, certificates pending re-confirmation). Certificate copies are sent on request once re-confirmed.
Against a nickel plated ground spring, chrome is harder and brighter at a higher cost. Where the spring is hidden, zinc plating with ground ends does the mechanical job for less.

Because a spring seats at both ends. Grinding one end only leaves the other end tilting, which defeats the purpose.
Chrome gives a harder, brighter surface and is chosen where handling resistance and appearance both matter.
Not when it is done correctly. Grinding removes material from the closed coil which is inactive under load.
Send your drawing, dimensions or a sample. We will confirm the specification and come back with a price and a lead time.
