Where plain carbon wire gradually relaxes, 65Mn keeps the geometry the assembly was designed around.
It sits between plain carbon steel and stainless in both performance and price, which is why so many volume parts use it.
Specify the plating alongside the material. 65Mn's advantage is mechanical, and leaving it unprotected in a damp position wastes the benefit entirely.

Against plain carbon steel, 65Mn costs slightly more and lasts considerably longer under cycling. Against stainless it is cheaper but needs a coating in any damp position.
No better than plain carbon steel. It needs plating, and the material is chosen for fatigue, not for corrosion.
Music wire gives higher tensile strength in fine diameters. 65Mn is the better general choice for formed parts at larger sizes.
