This is the heel guard run you walk over at the front of a building without noticing it, which is the whole point. The bearing bar pitch is closed down so a heel tip, a walking stick ferrule or a small castor cannot drop through, while the 30x2.5 section keeps the panel shallow enough to sit inside a paving channel rather than standing proud of it. Panels are cut to the run, banded, and galvanized after fabrication so the slot edges that everyone looks at stay clean rather than rusting into brown lines across new paving.
