Our Solution
Apart from the foundation, the body of the sculpture is made of stainless steel. The globe is surrounded by an outer circle, and instead of a whole sphere it has several transverse and lengthways circles carrying the continental plates, like the earth.
Manufacturing Process
The team spent several months building the sculpture, working through the framework and plate assembly.
Supply Chain Coordination
The three parts were coordinated so the globe, outer circle and foundation came together on site.
Quality Control
Incoming material
Alloy and sheet thickness are checked against the order before any blank is cut.
Forming check
Diameter and wall are measured after pressing, spinning or water pressuring.
Weld and grind
The equator weld is inspected, then welds and burrs are ground off before finishing.
Surface inspection
Every piece is inspected for scratches, dents and polish consistency under light.
Packing
Protective packing is built around the diameter and weight, and photographs are sent before dispatch.
Final Result
The 5.5 metre globe shines in the sun and has become a new landmark of the city.
