Our Solution
Five large stainless steel gazing globes were made from ∅2.5 metre large steel balls, formed in 2mm durable AISI 304 stainless steel.
Manufacturing Process
A tube base was welded to the bottom of each globe for installation below ground level.
Supply Chain Coordination
The five globes were produced as one batch so the finish matched across the set.
Quality Control
Incoming material
Alloy and sheet thickness are checked against the order before any blank is cut.
Forming check
Diameter and wall are measured after pressing, spinning or water pressuring.
Weld and grind
The equator weld is inspected, then welds and burrs are ground off before finishing.
Surface inspection
Every piece is inspected for scratches, dents and polish consistency under light.
Packing
Protective packing is built around the diameter and weight, and photographs are sent before dispatch.
Final Result
The installation's audio recordings feature familiar everyday sounds, from suburban traffic and MRT trains to chatter in wet markets and coffee shops.
