The Wanderer sculpture concept was designed by artist Brad Jackson, one of very few trade qualified architectural blacksmiths in Australia. It was installed at Sea Cottesloe and Willinga Park Equestrian Centre in 2015.

Our Solution
The project used 13 pieces of large hollow aluminium balls: 7 pieces ∅900mm × 4mm, 2 pieces ∅1600mm × 4mm, 2 pieces ∅600mm × 4mm and 2 pieces ∅400mm × 4mm.
Manufacturing Process
All spheres were formed in 4mm aluminium, which kept the mass down for a sculpture standing on fine legs.
Supply Chain Coordination
The four diameters were produced together and shipped as one consignment to Australia.
Quality Control
Incoming material
Alloy and sheet thickness are checked against the order before any blank is cut.
Forming check
Diameter and wall are measured after pressing, spinning or water pressuring.
Weld and grind
The equator weld is inspected, then welds and burrs are ground off before finishing.
Surface inspection
Every piece is inspected for scratches, dents and polish consistency under light.
Packing
Protective packing is built around the diameter and weight, and photographs are sent before dispatch.
Final Result
The Wanderer was installed at Sea Cottesloe and at Willinga Park Equestrian Centre in 2015.
