Our Solution
148 mirror polished hollow steel balls from ∅15cm to ∅80cm, forming a pattern that builds up the tower walls like rising bubbles.
Manufacturing Process
The full diameter range was formed and mirror polished to one standard so the pattern reads as a single system.
Supply Chain Coordination
The name of the cultural centre, the proximity to the river and Porsgrunn's industrial history informed the material selection and composition.
Quality Control
Incoming material
Alloy and sheet thickness are checked against the order before any blank is cut.
Forming check
Diameter and wall are measured after pressing, spinning or water pressuring.
Weld and grind
The equator weld is inspected, then welds and burrs are ground off before finishing.
Surface inspection
Every piece is inspected for scratches, dents and polish consistency under light.
Packing
Protective packing is built around the diameter and weight, and photographs are sent before dispatch.
Final Result
The facade marks the place as a bit weird, wild and beautiful, reflecting Porsgrunn's identity as a future oriented cultural city.
