Product Overview

Spun carbon steel hemispheres are formed from a single sheet, so there is no seam across the face. The 45° welding groove is the important detail: it makes the weld between two halves clean, and it is easy to grind and polish afterwards, which is exactly what a fire pit ball or an ironwork sphere needs.

Stamp pressed hemispheres cover the small sizes with a smooth surface that takes powder coating. Hand assembled hemispheres remove the mould limit entirely, so any size from ∅200mm upward can be made, with visible seams that are ground burr free.

Key Benefits

  • Q235 Carbon steel alloy sheet assembled
  • Hand Made
  • MOQ:1PCS.
  • Delivery Time: 7 days for scheduled production.

Application Scenarios

  • Fire pit balls
  • Welded sphere assembly
  • Ironwork and sculpture
  • Formed heads

Who It Is For

  • Metal artists building their own fire pit balls
  • Blacksmiths and iron craft workshops
  • Sculpture fabricators
  • Industrial customers needing thick formed heads

Problems It Solves

  • Welding two halves into a true sphere by eye. The 45° groove aligns and fills the joint correctly.
  • Assembled hemispheres are hard to close accurately. Spun hemispheres are the right choice if you plan to weld the sphere yourself.
  • Plasma cutter capacity limits. Pick a thickness below your machine's maximum cut to avoid heavy burrs.

Technical Features

  • Wall thickness available: 1.5mm, 2mm
  • Diameter: 2000mm, 300mm, 700mm
  • Surface finish options: Raw Finished
  • Alloy: Q235 Carbon Steel
  • Drilling and tapping in metric and unified threads on request
  • Base plates, pedestal tubes and hanging fittings fabricated with the piece
  • Sheet development calculated in house, so non-standard sizes are possible above ∅200mm

Materials

We form spheres and hemispheres in AISI 304, AISI 316 and AISI 316L stainless steel, Q235 carbon steel, H62 brass alloy and A6061 aluminium alloy. The alloy decides corrosion resistance, weight and how the surface takes a polish.

For this product the standard specification is Q235 Carbon Steel. Tell us the site conditions and we will confirm whether a different grade is worth the cost.

Manufacturing Process

Forming happens by stamping press, water pressuring, spinning or hand assembling. Two halves are joined at the equator, the weld is ground, and the surface is finished last, after any cutting or drilling has been done.

How a metal sphere is made Sheet is cut into blanks, formed into two hemispheres by stamping press, spinning or water pressuring, welded at the equator, ground, then mirror polished into a finished sphere. Quality Control

  1. Incoming material

Alloy and sheet thickness are checked against the order before any blank is cut.

  2. Forming check

Diameter and wall are measured after pressing, spinning or water pressuring.

  3. Weld and grind

The equator weld is inspected, then welds and burrs are ground off before finishing.

  4. Surface inspection

Every piece is inspected for scratches, dents and polish consistency under light.

  5. Packing

Protective packing is built around the diameter and weight, and photographs are sent before dispatch.

Customisation Options

  • Diameter and wall thickness to your drawing, with no mould limit above ∅200mm
  • Metric and unified threaded holes, drilled apertures and perforated patterns
  • Welded base tubes, base plates, internal ribs and pedestals
  • Mirror, brushed, sandblasted, etched, electroplated, PVD colour or spray painted finishes
  • Logos, lettering and world maps by sandblasting, etching, laser cutting or plasma cutting
  • LED kits fitted inside the sphere
  • Segmentation into quarters or eighths for sizes above container limits

Use Guide

  1. Confirm the diameter first

Diameter drives the forming route, the wall thickness, the price and the freight mode. Settle it before anything else.

  2. Match the alloy to the site

304 inland, 316 near salt water or pools, Q235 where a rust patina is wanted, brass or aluminium where weight or colour matters.

  3. Choose the finish last

Finishing always happens after forming, welding, cutting and grinding, so pattern edges stay clean.

  4. Plan the fixing

Tell us whether the piece is bolted, threaded, welded to a base tube or suspended, and we build the fitting into the part.

  5. Check the shipping limit

∅2200mm fits a container, ∅3500mm fits a flat rack, and larger spheres are segmented with bolted ribs.

FAQ

Spun or assembled for a fire pit ball?
Spun. It is machine formed, effectively seamless, has the 45° welding groove and reaches 16mm thickness. Assembled hemispheres are hand made with visible seams, max 6mm, and are harder to close into a sphere yourself.
What thickness do most fire pit customers buy?
6mm (3GA) is the common choice, but check your plasma cutter's maximum cut first. If your machine cuts 6mm, choose 4mm or 5mm to avoid burrs.
Can I order Assembled Large Carbon Steel Sphere in a different size?
Yes above ∅200mm, where there is no standard mould limit. Below ∅250mm a customised size needs a new stamping press mould, charged at USD 1,000.
How is it packed and shipped?
Protective packing is built around the diameter and weight. Samples and small orders go by DHL, UPS, FedEx or Aramex in 3 to 7 days. Larger orders go by air in around 3 days to your airport or by sea in 15 to 30 days.
What do you need from me to quote?
Diameter, wall thickness, material, finish, quantity and delivery country. A drawing or a photo helps and can be sent over WhatsApp.
