VT-818 Cell Phone and Non-Linear Junction Detector
The VT-818 separates three things that other detectors lump together: cell phones, semiconductor junctions and metal oxide junctions. It pairs non-linear junction detection with a spectrum signal unit, and offers two modes, so a trained operator can read spectrum, waterfall and peak curve diagrams while a lightly trained one gets an automatic classification instead.

Key benefits
- Identifies cell phones, semiconductor junctions and metal oxide junctions separately
- Professional Mode gives spectrum, waterfall and peak curve diagrams
- General Mode classifies automatically for less experienced operators
- Detects cell phone signals at up to 0.5 metres
- Adjustable transmission power for different environments
Problems it solves
- Metal oxide junctions cause false alarms on simple junction detectors
- A single detection mode does not suit operators of different experience
- Phones switched off are invisible to RF-only detection
- Operators cannot justify a call without seeing the underlying signal
Who it is for
- Confidential facilities enforcing a no-phone rule
- Examination authorities preventing device use
- Security teams with a mix of trained and lightly trained operators
Application scenarios
- Government offices and confidential facilities
- Sensitive examination areas where phones are prohibited
- Sweeps for electronic surveillance and recording devices
- Restricted zones requiring phone detection at entry
Technical features
- Combined non-linear junction and spectrum signal detection units
- Multi-dimensional spectrum analysis with spectrum, waterfall and peak curve diagrams
- General Detection and Professional Detection modes
- Adjustable transmission power

Figures are those published by the factory for this model. Where a value is shown as TBC it is not published, and we will confirm it with the factory before you order rather than estimate it.
Compared with other models in the range
The VT-811 adds wireless detection to junction detection but does not offer the two-mode spectrum analysis. The VT-818 is the instrument to choose when the job is specifically finding phones and telling a real semiconductor from a corroded metal joint.
Use guide
- Choose General Mode for routine sweeps and Professional Mode for analysis
- Work within 0.5 m of the surface for cell phone detection
- Adjust transmission power down in a confined space to reduce reflections
- In Professional Mode, confirm a call against the waterfall and peak curve views
- Operate between -30°C and 55°C and store between -40°C and 70°C
