VT-808 Electronic Audio Detector
The VT-808 listens for mechanical movement inside a sealed package. Using RF audio detection it picks up a mechanical watch through 100 mm of polyethylene foam plus 200 mm of A4 paper, which is the kind of concealment a visual or metal check will not resolve. Remote listening lets the detector be carried to the package by a drone or robot rather than by a person.

Compared with other models in the range
A non-linear junction detector such as the VT-801 finds the semiconductor in a device. The VT-808 works on sound: it hears the mechanism moving, which is how it catches a mechanical timer that contains no semiconductor at all. The two cover different threats.
